PREVIEW: Women's soccer hosts Daemen in mid-week showdown

MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College women's soccer team returns to action on Wednesday, Sept. 15 against Daemen College. The opening kick is scheduled for 3 p.m. - the game time was moved from 4 p.m. to 3 p.m. in an attempt to beat the inclement weather approaching New England.

The Hawks pushed No. 6 Saint Rose to double overtime in their Northeast-10 Conference opener on Sunday. A goal within the first minute of the second overtime period by the Golden Knights, gave them the 3-2 win. Freshman Sydney Wnek (Haverhill, Mass.) tallied her first career goal in the third minute. Late in the game, junior Grace Foley (Middleton, Mass.) tied the contest which forced overtime.

The Wildcats captured their first win of the season on Saturday when they downed Mercyhurst, 1-0. In their opening weekend, Daemen dropped matches to Wilmington and Goldey-Beacom and are 1-2 on the year. This is the last matchup for the Wildcats before they open East Coast Conference (ECC) play.

SCOUTING THE HAWKS
  • Four student-athletes have recorded the four Hawks goals this season.
  • Foley, Wnek, Sophomore Olivia Gotobed (North Andover, Mass.), and freshman Erin Rutherford (Ashburnham, Mass.) are the goal scorers with Wenk, Gotobed, and Rutherford tallying their first career goals.
  • Senior Regan Pratt (Newburyport, Mass.) leads the team with two assists. Pratt is tied for third in Division II, averaging one assist per game and holds the top spot in the Northeast-10 Conference in total assists. Freshman Riley Digilio (Danvers, Mass.) has one assist on the season, which is her first career.
  • Gotobed leads the team in shots with nine, four of them have been on goal.
  • Junior Kate Macaluso is 1-1 on the season from in the goal. She had faced 28 shots and made 10 saves. Macaluso holds a 1.75 goals against average and a .714 save percentage.
  • Macaluso made nine saves on 12 shots on goal in the double overtime loss to No. 6 Saint Rose. She earned her first career win over Assumption in the season opener. Macaluso averages five saves per game which is top-mark in the NE10.
  • The Hawks are being outshot through two games, 28-27 and in shots on goal, 14-13. Their scoring differential is zero.
SCOUTING THE WILDCATS
  • The Wildcats have two goals on the season, one from Brooke Amato and the other from Alyssa Diaz. Amato registered the game-winning goal against Mercyhurst.
  • Faye Panagopoulos has one assist which came on Diaz's goal against Goldey-Beacom.
  • Tatyjana Scalisi leads the team in shots with nine, four of them were on goal.
  • In goal, Tori DeLappi holds a 1-2 record. She has faced 43 shots and made 19 saves, allowing five goals. She has a 1.67 goals against average and a .792 save percentage. She also holds one shutout which came against Mercyhurst.
  • As team, the Wildcats have allowed 50 shots and totaled 25 of their own. Their opponents have put 25 shots on goal while the Wildcats are at 16 on goal.
  • They are minus-three in goal differential this season.
