MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College men's soccer team takes on Saint Michael's College in the fourth annual Community Cup on Saturday, Sept. 11. The opening kick is scheduled for 1 p.m. This season's beneficiary of the Community Cup is the Boys & Girls Club of Burlington.

Josue Assantha (Bukavu, Democratic Republic of Congo) tallied the game-winning goal in the 89th minute last time out against Roberts Wesleyan. With the win, the Hawks improved to 2-0. This will be the last non-conference match for the Hawks before Northeast-10 Conference play opens.
The Purple Knights opened the season with a 2-1 win at Chestnut Hill (Pa.) on Saturday but fell to Saint Thomas Aquinas by a 3-1 score on Sunday. With the loss, Saint Michael's is 1-1 on the young season. The Purple Knights host Maine-Fort Kent in their final non-conference tune up.
SCOUTING THE HAWKS
- The Hawks have not allowed a goal through their first two games of the season, a feat last accomplished by the Hawks in 2003.
- For the second consecutive season, Saint Anselm has started out 2-0.
- Senior Zach Elliot (Manchester, N.H.) leads the team in scoring with two goals and two assists for six points. He earned an assist in the win over Roberts Wesleyan.
- Junior Taylor Silverstein (Concord, N.H.) and Assantha have tallied the other two goals for Saint Anselm.
- Elliot has a team-high two assists while Silverstein, sophomore Thomas Prentice (Merrimack, N.H.), and sophomore Zach Verow (Bedford, N.H.) each have one assist.
- Junior Brian Underhill (Westford, Mass.) posted his second shutout of the season over Roberts Wesleyan. He is now 2-0 on the season after the five-save performance. He has faced 23 shots, with seven on goal.
- Underhill is one of eight student-athletes in Division II with two shutouts and is one of 19 with a 0.00 goals-against average.
- As a team, the Hawks have fired 26 shots with 14 of them on goal and holds a plus-4 goal differential.
SCOUTING THE PURPLE KNIGHTS
- The Purple Knights earned a hard-fought season opening win over Chestnut Hill (Pa.). Luke Magnier opened the scoring in the 17th minute with an assist from Miguel Diaz.
- Diaz registered his first goal of the season in the 50th minute to give the Purple Knights a 2-0 edge. A late goal by Chestnut Hill awarded Diaz the game-winning goal. Diaz is tied for fifth in the nation in game-winning goals with one.
- Brock Martindale became the third goal scorer on the season for the Purple Knights in a 3-1 loss to Saint Thomas Aquinas.
- Diaz is the team's top point earner with one goal and one assist for three points. Magnier and Martindale are tied for second with two points each while Kyle Brady and Sebastian Kerr have recorded one assist each.
- Mathias Loft has started two matches for the Purple Knights and is 1-1 on the season. He has allowed four goals and made two saves on six shots on goal.
- Ian Boudreau has earned just over 25 minutes in goal this season. He has yet to face a shot on goal.
- The team has fired 23 shots with 12 of them on goal. They currently hold a minus-1 goal differential.
ALL-TIME VS. SAINT MICHAEL'S
- This is the 57th meeting between the two programs. The Hawks hold are 36-13-7 against the Purple Knights.
- The last meeting between the two programs came on Oct. 7, 2019 in Colchester, Vt. Saint Anselm won that matchup, 4-0.
- The Hawks won both meetings in the 2019 season. The teams met on Sept. 17, 2019 in the "Community Cup" match on the Hilltop. Saint Anselm earned a 3-1 win, ending back-to-back wins by the Purple Knights.
- In the "Community Cup" matches, each team has won, lost, and tied. The inaugural match was played to a 1-1 tie on Sept. 9, 2017. The teams traded 3-1 scores as the Purple Knights won on Sept. 5, 2018 while the Hawks won in 2019.
- The first meeting between the schools came on Oct. 28, 1967. The longest win streak for either side is a 12-match win streak by Saint Anselm which ran from Oct. 29, 1994 to Sept. 20, 2005.
