Women's tennis eliminated in NE10 First Round by Bentley

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Competing in the Northeast-10 Conference postseason for the first time since the 2011 season, Saint Anselm College was blanked by the host Falcons from Bentley University on Sunday in NE10 First Round action.

The Hawks finish their season with a 2-9 record while Bentley snaps an eight-match losing streak, improving to 3-8. Sunday's match concluded the four-year careers of seniors Maikah Bulpitt (Cumberland, R.I.) and Dominique Bolduc (Manchester, N.H.).

Bentley eased its way to the doubles point, securing wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. The tandem of junior Emily Jacy (Glastonbury, Conn.) and Bulpitt battled to a 6-4 loss at the top doubles flight, but the Hawks headed into singles play down by a point in the match.

Bentley overwhelmed Saint Anselm in singles play, securing a 6-1, 6-1 result at No. 2 singles and a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 1 singles. The match was officially over once Bentley won the No. 4 singles match, 6-2, 6-3.

Bulpitt won the first set of her No. 3 singles match, but the Falcons' Remi Lesage came back to force a tiebreaker that went unfinished. Sophomore Josie Hulbert (Loudonville, N.Y.) was tied in the first set of her No. 6 singles match, 2-2, and freshman Elizabeth Janiak (Nashua, N.H.) trailed 3-2 in the opener of her No. 5 singles bout.

Bentley moves onto the NE10 Quarterfinals on Wednesday where it will take on top-seeded Franklin Pierce.
