COLCHESTER, Vt. – Senior
Morgan Perry (Bethany, Conn.) of the nationally-ranked Saint Anselm College softball team pitched a no-hitter in her team's 3-0 game one victory over Saint Michael's College on Friday afternoon. The squad followed up with a 6-2 win in game two.
Saint Anselm, the 15th-ranked team in NCAA Division II, improves to 18-4 on the year and to 15-3 against Northeast-10 Conference opponents. Saint Michael's falls to 5-13 on the year. The Hawks will finish the four-game series with Saint Michael's on Saturday, Apr. 24. First pitch is scheduled for 12 p.m.
The no-hitter marked the third of Perry's career with the most recent no-no coming on Mar. 21, 2021 when she struck out 16 batters in the victory over New Haven in the season opener. Her other no-hitter was in 2020 when she fanned 10 batters via strikeouts, allowing just one walk in the 9-0 shutout win over Cedarville in Winter Haven, Fla.
Perry established a new program record with her 18 strikeouts in game one. She set the previous team record of 17, accomplishing that feat earlier this season against Bentley. So far this season, Perry has struck out 140 batters, ranking in the top 15 of the program's single-season category.
With the win, Perry tied with
Angela Locsin of Pace with the top spot on the NE10 all-time wins list with 78 to her credit. She sits just six strikeouts shy of 700 for her career.
In game two, the Hawks scored four runs in the opening two innings and never looked back on the way to a 6-2 win.
