SCOUTING THE HAWKS
- The women's tennis team's home opener against Southern New Hampshire was the first on-campus athletics event – in any sport – since Mar. 7, 2020.
- Most recently, Saint Anselm posted a 5-0 loss to Franklin Pierce over the weekend.
- With the overall match decided in favor of Franklin Pierce, junior Emily Jacy (Glastonbury, Conn.) completed her No. 1 singles bout in progress and battled to a 6-0, 6-3 loss in one of the closest fixtures of the day.
- Against the Penmen on Mar. 14, seniors Maikah Bulpitt (Cumberland, R.I.) and Dominique Bolduc (Manchester, N.H.) battled to the closest doubles result, ultimately falling by a 6-2 score to the No. 2 doubles tandem from SNHU.
- Sophomore Anastasia Kapothanasis (Westbrook, Maine) fell in the first set at No. 2 doubles, 6-3, but rallied to post a 6-1 score in set two to force a decisive third stanza before falling to Alexxa Etienne.
- Freshman Elizabeth Janiak (Nashua, N.H.) made her collegiate debut for Saint Anselm against the Penmen, playing alongside Jacy at No. 1 doubles.
FEATURING THE FALCONS
- Bentley posted a 5-10 record in 2019, battling Saint Anselm to a 5-2 victory on Sept. 11 of that season.
- Alessa Matuty and Makena Romagnano were named captains of the Bentley women's tennis team earlier this month. The duo will lead a program that was projected to finish seventh in the NE10, according to the league's preseason coaches' poll.
- Rick Edelmann is in his eighth season leading the Bentley women's tennis team and welcomed back eight student-athletes from the previous season. He also welcomes five freshmen to the program in 2021.
ALL TIME vs. BENTLEY
- Bentley holds the all-time edge in the series over the Hawks, winning 27 of the 43 matches played.
- The Falcons have claimed wins in 24 of the prior 27 contests dating back to Oct. 14, 1996, including a series-long winning streak of 14.
- The Hawks most recently won on Oct. 12, 2018, recording a 5-2 decision.
