MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College volleyball team concludes its home regular season schedule on Tuesday when Franklin Pierce University comes to the Hilltop in Northeast-10 Conference play.

The Hawks, who are ranked 10th in the East Region, posted a pair of straight set victories against The College of Saint Rose and Le Moyne College on Nov. 5 and Nov. 6, improving to 17-6 on the season and 7-3 in the NE10. After hosting the Ravens on Tuesday, Nov. 9, the Hawks conclude their regular season at Adelphi University and American International College on Friday, Nov. 12 and Saturday, Nov. 13.
The Ravens recorded a pair of 3-0 victories over Adelphi and Pace University on Nov. 5 and Nov. 6. Franklin Pierce is winners in four of their last five matches and are now 12-10 overall and 6-5 in conference matches. After making the trip to the Hilltop, the Ravens wrap up their regular season at Assumption on Saturday, Nov. 13.
SCOUTING SAINT ANSELM
- Sophomore Kaitlin Brown (Glendale, Ariz.) led the Hawks offense with 20 kills, recording a hitting percentage of 0.302. Brown was tied for the match-high against Saint Rose with 12 kills. Junior Lauren Casey (Jefferson City, Mo.) added 14 kills to the offensive attack in the two contests. Casey is the team leader with 237 kills, averaging 3.04 per set.
- Junior co-captain Michelle Henwood (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) notched 65 assists on the weekend, extending her streak of at least 30 assists to 10 matches. She has recorded 784 assists on the season and her 9.80 assists per set is good for fifth in the NE10. She needs 199 to take over the fifth spot in program annals for career assists.
- Leading the defense and averaging 4.23 digs per set is junior co-captain Caroline Belmontez (San Diego, Calif.). Belmontez recorded 25 digs over the weekend including a match-high of 14 against Saint Rose. She also leads the team and is tied for third in the NE10 with 0.46 service aces per set. As team, the Hawks average 2.15 per set which is good for 14th nationally.
- Sophomore Audrey Wetjen (Henderson, Nev.) is in the top-10 in the conference in total blocks (63.0) and blocks per set (0.81), ranking ninth and sixth in the categories, respectively.
- Saint Anselm jumped from seventh to fifth in the conference standings after the weekend sweep. The Hawks have played 10 conference matches which is second-lowest to Saint Michael's.
- Head Coach Braden Zamore notched his 100th win on the Hilltop on Friday in the 3-0 victory over Saint Rose and now needs just one additional win for the 200th in his women's volleyball coaching career.
SCOUTING FRANKLIN PIERCE
- The Ravens were 8-5 after their opening match in October, downing Bentley by a 3-1 score. The team suffered four consecutive losses before winning four of the last five matches including a weekend pair over Adelphi and Pace.
- Tessa Brandt and Mariah Robles have recorded 208 and 205 kills each, leading the way for the Ravens offense. Brandt is tied for third in the conference in service aces per set with 0.46.
- Kennedy Garnhart and Maddie Ward have recorded over 300 assists each as Garnhart leads the team with 415.
- Leading the Ravens defense is Morgan Schmutzler, who has 376 digs and is averaging 4.64 per set. In those categories, Schmutzler ranks eighth and sixth in the conference.
- Franklin Pierce currently sits in the eighth place in the NE10 standings and has two matches remaining in NE10 play.
ALL-TIME vs. FRANKLIN PIERCE
- This will be the 35th all-time meeting between the two programs. The Ravens hold a 20-14 record in the series.
- The Hawks won the last meeting on Sept. 28, 2019 in 3-2 fashion. Henwood threw up 47 assists while Belmontez registered 20 digs in that match.
- Saint Anselm has won the last two meetings and three of the last four. Prior to that, the Ravens won 13-straight matches, marking the longest win streak in the all-time series which started on Sept. 24, 2005 and ended on Oct. 8, 2016.
- The Hawks and Ravens were scheduled to play on Sept. 25 but the match was postponed due to health and safety protocols.
