The Hawks went 2-1 in last week's three-matches including snapping New Haven's 12-match win streak. Saint Anselm opened the stretch with a win over Assumption but fell to Southern Connecticut State on the backend of the pair of Connecticut matches. Saint Anselm is now 15-6 on the season with a 5-3 mark in NE10 matches. The Hawks host Franklin Pierce on Tuesday, Nov. 9 in their regular season finale before closing out the season at American International and Adelphi on Friday, Nov. 12 and Saturday, Nov. 13.
The Golden Knights are in the midst of a four match losing skid, falling to Franklin Pierce and Southern New Hampshire on Oct. 29 and Oct. 30. With the losses, the Golden Knights fall to 7-17 on the season with a 1-9 record in conference play. After coming to the Hilltop, Saint Rose heads to Saint Michael's on Saturday, Nov. 6 before concluding its regular season on Saturday, Nov. 13.
The Dolphins ended their four match losing streak with a win at Franklin Pierce on Oct. 30 by a 3-0 score. They improved to 4-14 overall and 2-8 in NE10 play. Le Moyne is at Saint Michael's on Friday, Nov. 5 before coming to Stoutenburgh Gymnasium on Saturday, Nov. 6. The squad finishes its home schedule in non-conference action against Daemen before heading to Saint Rose on Saturday, Nov. 13 to round out the 2021 regular season.
SCOUTING SAINT ANSELM
- The Hawks were winners in four-consecutive matches including two five set wins over Stonehill and New Haven. In both those matches, Saint Anselm snapped a nine-match streak for the Skyhawks and a 12-match streak for the Chargers. The Hawks enter the final stretch of the season with five matches left on their slate, including three at home where Saint Anselm is 9-1 on the season.
- Junior Lauren Casey (Jefferson City, Mo.) was named the NE10 Player of the Week for the second time this season after recording 53 kills, 38 digs, three double-doubles, and a .295 hitting percentage in last week's three matches. Casey averaged 4.42 kills per set and 3.17 digs per set. Casey leads the team in kills with 222 on the season. She is hitting at a .262 hitting percentage in her first year on the Hilltop.
- Junior Michelle Henwood (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) Has 719 assists on the season and sits at 1,814 for her career, ranking sixth in program history. She has a career average of 9.07 assists per set which currently is second best in the program's individual career records. The co-captain is fourth in the NE10 in assists per set with 9.72.
- Leading the defense is junior Caroline Belmontez (San Diego, Calif.) with 288 digs, averaging 4.24 per set. Belmontez has added 32 service aces which is good for a tie for seventh in the conference. She is averaging 0.47 per set which is tied for second in the conference. Sophomore Audrey Wetjen (Henderson, Nev.) has the eighth highest block total in the NE10 with 60 total, 23 solo and 37 assisted.
- Saint Anselm currently sits in seventh in the conference standings but has played the least amount of matches when compared to NE10 foes.
SCOUTING SAINT ROSE
- The Golden Knights closed the opening month of the season with a 4-8 record but have gone 3-9 since and have suffered losses in five of their last six matches, falling to 7-17 on the season with a 1-9 mark in league play.
- Cassidy Smith, Karleigh Frippo, and Julia Cavaclcanti all have over 130 kills for Saint Rose this season. Smith is the team lead with 150, averaging 1.83 per set.
- Emma Strefling is averaging 3.86 assists per set and has a season total of 313. Allison Sellers has 185 helpers as the Golden Knights' secondary setter.
- Gabriela Boyrié has 263 digs, recording 3.70 per set to lead the defense. Aiding in the defensive efforts, Fripp and Cavalcanti have 81.0 blocks and 67.0 blocks. Fripp ranks second in the NE10, averaging 0.99 blocks per set.
- Saint Rose has been eliminated from NE10 playoff contention with just three matches remaining on its schedule.
SCOUTING LE MOYNE
- After going 2-8 through September, the Dolphins are 2-6 with wins over Pace on Oct. 16 and Franklin Pierce in their last match on Oct. 30. Le Moyne is 4-14 on the season with a 2-8 record in NE10 play.
- Madeline Kennedy leads the team with 195 kills, averaging 3.20 per set which ranks fifth in the conference. Lexi Petraitis is second on the team with 86 kills this season.
- Emily Yancone has registered 411 assists, averaging 7.75 per set. Yancone ranks 10th in the NE10 in total assists and assists per set.
- Five Dolphins have recorded over 100 digs this season with Isabella Leslie leading the way with 212. Maethavee Siphakongviseth and Yancone are tied for second on the team with 147 each. Petraitis has three solo blocks and 26 assisted for a team-high 29.0.
- Le Moyne is on the outside looking in, needing to win each of its final three matches, and they need losses from Saint Anselm, Assumption, Adelphi, and Franklin Pierce who all hold the seventh through 10th spots in the conference standings.
ALL-TIME vs. SAINT ROSE
- The Hawks and Golden Knights have met 23 times prior to this meeting. In the all-time series, Saint Anselm holds a 12-11 edge.
- The last meeting came on Nov. 8, 2019, resulting in a 3-1 for the Hawks in Albany, N.Y.
- Saint Anselm opened the all-time series with a five-match win streak starting on Oct. 1, 2000 and ending on Oct. 4, 2003. Le Moyne also had a five-match win streak from Oct. 30, 2005 to Oct. 15, 2010. Since then, each program has five wins.
ALL-TIME vs. LE MOYNE
- This will be the 22nd meeting between the Hawks and Dolphins, who are meeting for the second time this season. Le Moyne is 16-5 against Saint Anselm in the all-time series.
- The Hawks recorded a 3-0 win in a non-conference match on Sept. 5 in the opening weekend's pair of tri-matches. Sophomore Audrey Simmons (North Hampton, N.H.) led the offense with 11 kills while Henwood recorded a match-high 28 helpers and Belmontez posted 15 digs.
- In the match before that, the Dolphins downed the Hawks by a 3-0 score on Nov. 9, 2019.
