MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College men's basketball team will take on a familiar foe in Saint Thomas Aquinas College on Sunday, Nov. 28 at 1 p.m. The last three games between the Hawks and Spartans have been played in the NCAA Division II postseason.

Saint Anselm snapped a two-game losing streak to begin the season, moving to 1-2 with a victory over Southern New Hampshire University on Tuesday that snapped the four-game winning streak of the Penmen.
Saint Thomas Aquinas, receiving votes in the NABC Division II National Coaches' Poll and the D2SIDA National Media Poll, carries a 4-2 overall record into play on Sunday, having won three of the last four games. Last time out, the Spartans picked up a 72-55 win at Findlay just says after the team's home-opening victory over Goldey Beacom.
Saint Anselm and Saint Thomas Aquinas most recently met in the 2018-19 NCAA Division II East Region Championship game. The Hawks came away with their second East Region title, logging a convincing 74-49 victory over the Spartans in what was the first set of NCAA postseason games ever played in Stoutenburgh Gymnasium.
Fans attending Sunday's game are expected to familiarize themselves with the College's spectator and ticketing policies.

SCOUTING SAINT ANSELM
- Down by five points at halftime, Saint Anselm defeated No. 24-ranked Southern New Hampshire by posting 44 of the 75 points in the second half on Tuesday. Senior Chris Paul (Highland Mills, N.Y.) was his team's leading point producer, canning 29 points with seven rebounds after making a game-high 10 free throws.
- Saint Anselm won the rebounding battle (41-to-33) and shot 50% (26-for-52), limiting Southern New Hampshire to just 40% shooting on the game. The Hawks did commit 18 turnovers, but the Penmen only scored eight points off those miscues. Saint Anselm scored 22 points off 13 turnovers and enjoyed 14 second-chance points.
- Paul is leading the NE10 with just shy of 36 minutes played per game. He ranks second in the NE10 in points per game (23.3) and is fifth in offensive rebounds per game (3.0). Among NCAA Division II student-athletes currently active, Paul ranks 13th in career point scoring (1,465) and 25th in career double-doubles (15).
- Late in the 2019-20 season, Paul cracked the team's top 10 list for career free throws made and has 383 to his credit, recently passing ninth-place Patrick McCarthy '56 (380). The all-time record of 513 was established by Jim Moore '06 from 2003-06.
- Junior Owen McGlashan (Marlton, N.J.) had a career day for Saint Anselm, posting 12 points, six rebounds, three steals and two assists in 22 minutes off the bench.
- Senior Alonzo Jackson (Medford, Mass.) ranks ninth all-time in Saint Anselm history with 61 career blocks.
SCOUTING STAC
- The Spartans claimed last season's ECC postseason title and are projected to finish atop the standings in 2021-22, according to the preseason coaches' poll released in late October. Saint Thomas Aquinas narrowly lost to Daemen in the East Region title game in 2021-22, falling by a 71-70 margin to the Wildcats.
- Saint Thomas Aquinas posted a 14-2 overall record last year, sprinting out to a 9-1 record in the ECC during the regular season of play. The Spartans have qualified for each of the last six NCAA postseasons and currently ranks seventh in NCAA Division II in steals per game (12.0) and ninth in three-point field goals made (59).
- This week, Demetre Roberts and Sean Moore were named Player of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week in the ECC. Roberts averaged 20.5 points and five assists across two games while Moore hauled in 7.5 rebounds and contributed with two steals per game and one block per contest in a 2-0 week for the Spartans.
- Roberts ranks sixth in NCAA Division II with 16 steals and Osbel Caraballo is seventh with 48 field goals made. Caraballo has two double-doubles, ranking 21st in the nation, and his 67.6% field goal percentage is the 22nd best figure in NCAA Division II.
- Grant Singleton is the team's third double-digit points per game performer shooting 31-for-68 from the floor (.456). He is one of five seniors to have earned at least one start this season.
ALL-TIME vs. SAINT THOMAS AQUINAS
- The Hawks are 6-1 in the all-time series with Saint Thomas Aquinas.
- Saint Anselm downed STAC by a 74-49 margin on Mar. 20, 2019, claiming the program's second NCAA Division II East Region Championship. The Hawks led by as many as 30 points in the game and led comfortably once capturing the lead just 4:49 into the contest.
- In the meeting prior, the Spartans eliminated Saint Anselm from the 2017 NCAA Division II East Region Championship with a 91-72 victory in the Quarterfinals game. STAC went on to claim the program's first regional title and fell to Northwest Missouri State, 79-70, in the Elite Eight.
- The Hawks advanced to the regional finals in 2016 by defeating STAC, 77-73, on Mar. 13 behind a game-high 29 points from Mike McCahey '16 and a full stat sheet of 16 points, nine rebounds, five assists, and a block from Tim Guers '19.
