The teams are back in action on Saturday, Nov. 13 for a matinee game with the opening puck drop scheduled for 1 p.m. In the all-time series, Saint Anselm is now 14-0 against Post.
Seniors
Kelly Golini (Tewksbury, Mass.),
Blue Fancy (Orleans, Mass.), and
Erin Meyers (Saint Paul, Minn.) joined freshmen
Audrey Jackson (Shoreview, Minn.) and
Gracee Donovan (Orchard Park, N.Y.) on the scoresheet for the Hawks. Golini led all student-athletes with three points, adding two assists to her goal. Sophomores
Brinna Martin (Saint Michael, Minn.) and
Savanah Popick (South Windsor, Conn.) joined the senior with two helpers each.
The best chance for either side in the scoreless opening 20 minutes came at 10:18 for the Eagles as
Sadie Storm redirected a point shot that hit the post but stayed out the goal. Just over one minute later, sophomore
Maddy McCaffery (Weymouth, Mass.) fired a wrist shot that rang off the crossbar and flew into the netting.
Junior
Gabrielle Huson (Edina, Minn.) drove from her own defensive end and found Golini in the slot near the midpoint of the second period. Golini fired a wrister by Eagles goaltender
Lexi Levy for her third goal of the season at 7:45 of the second period to open the scoring.
The Hawks doubled their lead just 39 seconds later as Jackson notched her first collegiate goal, capping off a rebound chance from a Popick point shot. Fancy scored the third goal of the period at 12:55, registering her first goal of the season by cleaning up a secondary scoring chance.
Saint Anselm recorded a pair of special teams goals in the third period as Donovan redirected a shot from the blue line at 6:42, netting her second goal of the season. Just 1:50 later, Meyers found herself in a one-on-one with Levy and managed to beat the goaltender, recording the second shorthanded goal of the season for the Hawks.
The Eagles did crack the scoreboard with just under five minutes to play as
Jenna Abeyta beat junior goaltender
Allie Kelley (East Berne, N.Y.) on her glove side and into the upper right corner of the goal.
The Hawks peppered the Eagles goaltender with a season high 43 shots while allowing just 18 shots on Kelley, who made 17 saves in the winning effort. Levy managed to stop 38 of the shots she faced.
