ALBANY, N.Y. – Competing in the Northeast-10 Conference Semifinals, the Saint Anselm College women's soccer team was toppled by the eighth-ranked team in the nation, the College of Saint Rose, by a 5-0 margin on Thursday.
The Hawks, who are ranked fourth in the East Region according to the United Soccer Coaches poll, fall to 10-6-1 on the season while the Golden Knights improve to 14-1-3. Saint Anselm will await the NCAA Division II Selection Show on Monday, Nov. 15 to find out their season's fate.
The Golden Knights controlled the play for majority of the first half as they fired four shots toward goal before capitalizing on a chance in the 16th minute.
Jen Bartlett finished off a loose ball inside the box following a shot from
Tatiana Leggiero that was blocked by a Hawks defender.
Saint Rose wasted no time in doubling its lead as
Sanna Rein found the back of the net after Hawks junior goalkeeper

Ciera Lundy in the 18th minute.
Mia Klammer gave the hosts a 3-0 lead after she managed to find the lower left of the goal with a right-footed strike from about 20 yards out in the 31st minute.
Freshman
Josie Pecor (Williston, Vt.) gained enough clearance in the 41st minute to fire a shot from just inside the 18-yard box, but the attempt went wide in what was the best first-half scoring chance for the Hawks.
After Pecor sent the first shot on goal for the Hawks,
Lauren Amerena gave the Golden Knights a 4-0 advantage in the 53rd minute. Macaluso made a save, deflecting the ball over the goal which gave Saint Rose a corner kick to set up the scoring play. The ball was sent into the middle of the box for
Kaelyn Britt, who headed home the play in the 56th minute.
Neither team managed a strong scoring chance in the remaining time as just two shots were attempted over the remaining 34 minutes of the game.
Saint Rose fired 19 shots, placing 11 on frame, while Saint Anselm mustered just four shot attempts in total and only put two on net. The Golden Knights were awarded 11 corner kicks to one for the Hawks.
