PREVIEW: Women's ice hockey hosts Post in home weekend series

MANCHESTER, N.H. – After three games on the road, the Saint Anselm College women's ice hockey team returns to Sullivan Arena to host Post University in a New England Women's Hockey Alliance (NEWHA) weekend series on Friday, Nov. 12 and Saturday, Nov. 13.

The Hawks played to a 1-1 tie on Nov. 5 before falling 3-0 on Nov. 6 in a pair of NEWHA contests against Sacred Heart. Saint Anselm is now 2-7-1 on the season with a 1-2-1 record in league matches. After hosting the Eagles in the weekend series, the Hawks head to Long Island University on Friday, Nov. 19 and Saturday, Nov. 20.

The Eagles suffered a 4-0 and a 6-1 loss in a home-and-home series against LIU. Post falls to 2-6-0 on the season with a 2-4-0 mark against conference foes. After the weekend series against the Hawks, the Eagles travel to the Rochester Institute of Technology on Tuesday, Nov. 16 in a non-conference match before hosting Franklin Pierce University in a weekend series on Friday, Nov. 19 and Saturday, Nov. 20.

SCOUTING SAINT ANSELM
  • Prior to the NEWHA opener against Franklin Pierce on Oct. 29, the Hawks compiled a 1-5 record to open their first season playing completely against National Collegiate level competition. Against NEWHA opponents, Saint Anselm is 1-2-1 while sitting at 2-7-1 overall on the season.
  • Senior captain Erin Meyers (Saint Paul, Minn.) leads the team with five points (one goal, four assists). Her four helpers are tied for the team lead with freshman Madi Ressler (Brighton, Mich.).
  • Senior alternate captain Kelly Golini (Tewksbury, Mass.), junior Devin Porazinski (Parker, Colo.), and sophomores Maddy McCaffery (Weymouth, Mass.) and Claire Weber (Marshfield, Mass.) are all tied for the team lead with two goals each. Meyers and three other Hawks have lit the lamp once this season.
  • Junior Allie Kelley (East Berne, N.Y.) has started all 10 games to date. She has a goals-against average of 3.61 and a .917 save percentage. Kelley has accumulated 366 saves, averaging nearly 37 per game. Kelley currently sits in sixth in program history for saves in a single season.
  • As a team, the Hawks are 3-for-45 in extra-skater opportunities while allowing nine goals in 47 short-handed scenarios.
SCOUTING POST
  • Post suffered a 5-1 loss to Sacred Heart in its season opener on Oct. 8 before sweeping a weekend series against Saint Michael's on Oct. 15 and Oct. 16. Since then, the Eagles are 0-5 with losses to Franklin Pierce, Sacred Heart, and LIU.
  • Kiersten Browning leads the team with two goals while five other student-athletes have found the back of the net once.
  • Julia Wysocki has a team-high four points, stemming from one goal and three assists. Her three assists are also a team-high. Six student-athletes have recorded one assist on the season for Post.
  • Kaitlyn Daly has started five contests in the cage for the Eagles. She has a 5.00 goals-against average and a .884 save percentage. Daly has totaled 190 saves this season. Grace Graslund has started in two games, making 65 saves which is good for a .929 save percentage and a 2.50 goals-against average. Lexi Levy and Kristin Smith have started one game each.
  • With the extra skater, Post is 0-for-29 in those opportunities while allowing seven power-play goals on 33 chances which is good for a 78.8% kill percentage.
ALL-TIME vs. POST
  • Saint Anselm is 13-0 all-time against Post.
  • The last matchup came on Feb. 18, 2020 and resulted in an 8-1 win for the Hawks in the NEWHA Quarterfinals.
  • The squads met five times in the 2019-20 season. Saint Anselm held a plus-23 goal differential in those five contests.
  • Seven of the 13 games have been shutouts for the Hawks.
