The Hawks are playing their first official contest in 616 days since downing Southern New Hampshire in the season finale on Feb. 22, 2020. In the 2019-20 season, Saint Anselm posted a 13-13-2 overall record with an 8-8-2 record in Northeast-10 Conference play. The Hawks host Rivier to open the season before traveling to Castleton and Worcester State. After the three non-conference contests, Saint Anselm opens conference play by hosting Stonehill on Friday, Nov. 12 and Saturday, Nov. 13.

The Raiders are playing their first season of NCAA competition as they open by hosting Southern New Hampshire on Friday, Oct. 29 before coming to the Hilltop on Saturday, Oct. 30. Rivier announced in Oct. 2020 that the men's ice hockey program would begin play in the fall of 2021.

SCOUTING SAINT ANSELM

• The Hawks are returning 19 student-athletes who were rostered during the cancelled 2020-21 season. From the last season of competition, Saint Anselm returns 12 student-athletes including senior captains Kilian Hammersmith (Glen Ellyn, Ill.) and Trevor Hott (Idaho Falls, Idaho) and junior alternate captain Andrew Andary (Macomb, Mich.).
• In the 2019-20 season, rising senior Anthony Iacullo (Barrington, Ill.) led the Hawks with 12 goals and 15 assists for 27 points. Hammersmith is the second-highest point getter of the returners with seven goals and 11 assists for 18 points.
• Rising junior Nick Howard (Burlington, Mass.) started 15 games in net for Saint Anselm. He finished the season with a 7-6-2 record and a 2.70 goals-against average. Howard stopped 393 shots, translating to a team high 0.906 save percentage.
• Saint Anselm was selected to finish second in the Northeast-10 Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll. The Hawks garnered three first-place votes and 25 total points, just one first-place vote behind the preseason favorite, Saint Michael's.
• The Hawks are looking to return to the NE10 postseason after missing it by one point in 2019-20. Saint Anselm captured the conference crown in 2017-18 and finished as the runner-up in 2018-19.

SCOUTING RIVIER

• The Raiders do not have a conference affiliation for their first season of competition. Rivier has four contests slated against Granite State foes in Southern New Hampshire, Franklin Pierce, and Saint Anselm.
• Rivier has 27 student-athletes who are freshmen on their roster. Six other student-athletes are transfers from Becker College.
• Colby Audette, Nick Giamou, and Josh Sanchez are the only upperclassmen on the roster this season.

ALL-TIME vs. RIVIER

• This will be the first meeting all-time between the two programs.
• Against teams based in New Hampshire, the Hawks are 94-43-4 all-time. Those programs include contests against Daniel Webster, Franklin Pierce, New England College, and Southern New Hampshire.
• In 2019-20, the Hawks were 2-5 against Granite State opponents.
