MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College women's ice hockey team opens New England Women's Hockey Alliance (NEWHA) play with a home-and-home series against Franklin Pierce on Friday, Oct. 29 and Saturday, Oct. 30.

The Hawks dropped a pair of contests last weekend to ECAC Hockey opponents in Yale and Harvard by 8-0 and 6-2 scores. With the losses, Saint Anselm fell to 1-5 to open their first season playing exclusively against National Collegiate level competition. After the weekend series with the Ravens, the Hawks head to Sacred Heart on Friday, Nov. 5 and Saturday, Nov. 6 before returning home to host Post on Friday. Nov. 12 and Saturday, Nov. 13.
The Ravens won their last two contests against Holy Cross on Oct. 16 and Post on Oct. 22. After scoring just one goal through the first three game of the season, Franklin Pierce lit the lamp 11 times in their most recent contests. With a home game on Saturday, the Ravens will play five consecutive home games with Castleton, New Hampshire, and Saint Michael's making the trip to Rindge, N.H.

SCOUTING SAINT ANSELM
- After opening the season with a 3-2 win over Maine, the Hawks have dropped contests to nationally-ranked Quinnipiac and Northeastern before falling to Yale and Harvard, who is receiving votes in the national polls.
- Seniors Erin Meyers (Saint Paul, Minn.), Kendra Currier (Middleton, Mass.), and Kelly Golini (Tewksbury, Mass.), and junior Gabrielle Huson (Edina, Minn.) were selected to lead the Hawks earlier this week, making up the team's leadership group. Meyers will wear the team's "C" while Currier, Golini, and Huson will be the team's alternate captains.
- Meyers leads the team in points with four, stemming from one goal and three assists. Golini and freshman Tyra Turner (Andover, Minn.) sit in a tie for second on the team in points with three each.
- Golini and sophomores Devin Porazinski (Parker, Colo.) and Claire Weber (Marshfield, Mass.) are the team leaders with two goals each. Junior Kenadie Cooper (Gilbert, Ariz.) and Meyers have one goal each to bring the team total to eight on the season.
- Freshman Madi Ressler (Brighton, Mich.) was named the NEWHA Defensive Player of the Week after recording an assist against Harvard and blocking eight shots in the contests with Yale and Harvard.
- Junior Allie Kelley (East Berne, N.Y.) has stopped 250 shots through six games this season and has set the program record for saves in a single game twice on the year. Against Harvard, Kelley stopped 58 of 64 shots on goal and has stopped over 50 three times this season. She has a 5.12 goals against average and a .906 save percentage, starting in all six games.
SCOUTING FRANKLIN PIERCE
- After falling to Mercyhurst in a weekend pair to open the season, the Ravens split with Holy Cross and downed post on Friday, Oct. 22 to improve to 2-3 to open NEWHA play.
- Ava Kison, Becca Kniss, and Brooke Remington lead the team with two goals each. The Ravens have scored 12 goals this season, coming from nine student-athletes.
- Leading the way in assists is Katelyn Brightbill and Jenna Ruiz are tied for the top-spot on the team with three each. Stefanie Caban and Bethany Ross have recorded two helpers each. Ruiz is the team leader with four points on one goal and three assists.
- Marissa Massaro was named the NEWHA Player of the Week following a goal and an assist in the Ravens 7-0 win over post on Oct. 22. She opened the scoring late in the first period and registered an assist in the third period.
- Suzette Faucher has been named the NEWHA Goaltender of the Week for three straight weeks. On the season, she is 2-1 in three starts with a 0.990-save percentage and a 0.24-goals against average. Emme Ostrander has drawn two starts for the Ravens and has a 5.58-goals against average and a 0.853 save percentage.
ALL-TIME vs. FRANKLIN PIERCE
- This weekend's meetings will be the 28th and 29th in the all-time series. Saint Anselm is 23-3-1 against Franklin Pierce all-time.
- The last meeting came on Feb. 20, 2020, which was the longest NCAA National Collegiate women's ice hockey contest, spanning over five hours and ending in the fifth overtime. The Hawks won that matchup in the NEWHA semifinals, 2-1.
- Saint Anselm was unbeaten in the first 22 match-ups against Franklin Pierce, starting on Nov. 19, 2012 and ending on Nov. 1, 2019. Since then, the teams are 2-2 in the series.
