MANCHESTER, N.H. – Head coach
Jen Kindret of the Saint Anselm College women's ice hockey team announced her team's four captains for the 2021-22 season.
Erin Meyers (Saint Paul, Minn.),
Kendra Currier (Middleton, Mass.),
Kelly Golini (Tewksbury, Mass.), and
Gabrielle Huson (Edina, Minn.) were selected to lead the Hawks in their first season playing exclusively against National Collegiate level competition.
Meyers will wear the "C" in the 17th season of competition for the program. Currier, Golini, and Huson will have the "A" on their sweaters, serving as Alternate Captains on and off the ice.
On the year, Meyers leads the team in points with one goal and three assists for four points. She is tied for the team lead in assists. In her career, Meyers has played in 68 games, notching 15 goals and 31 assists for 48 points. Golini is tied for second on the team in points (three) and is tied for the top spot on the squad in goals with two. Golini was the program's top-scoring returner after finding the twine 26 times and adding 21 helpers in 62 games.
Defensively, Currier and Huson have yet to crack the scoresheet but have played in all six games thus far. Huson and Currier are the team's top-shot blockers as Huson has 21 while Currier has 12. The duo has combined for eight shots from the blue line, aiding the offense. Currier has now played in 67 games and has 11 career points, stemming from two goals and nine assists. Huson, the youngest of the leadership group, came into the season with five goals and three assists for eight points through 26 games.
The Hawks open New England Women's Hockey Alliance (NEWHA) play on Friday, Oct. 29 when Franklin Pierce comes to the Hilltop. The opening puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m.
