The Hawks dropped their home opener on Oct. 13 to now No. 6-ranked Northeastern, 5-0. With the loss, Saint Anselm fell to 1-3 on the season with all three losses coming to nationally-ranked opponents. After playing Yale and Harvard, the Hawks open New England Women's Hockey Alliance (NEWHA) play with a home-and-home series with Franklin Pierce on Friday, Oct. 29 and Saturday, Oct. 30.
The Bulldogs open their 2021-22 season by hosting the Hawks. Yale did not compete in the 2020-21 season and will be playing its first contest since Mar. 1, 2020, which was a 4-3 triple overtime loss to Harvard in the third game of the ECAC Hockey Quarterfinals. Yale hosts Sacred Heart on Saturday, Oct. 23 and open ECAC play on Friday, Oct. 29 against Princeton.
The Crimson head to Dartmouth in their season opener on Friday, Oct. 22. Harvard will play ECAC opponents in five of its first six games, making the only non-conference game to start the season coming against the Hawks. The Crimson are currently receiving votes in the most recent USCHO Division I Poll. Harvard returns to ECAC play on Friday, Oct. 29 by hosting Cornell.

SCOUTING SAINT ANSELM
- The Hawks fell to Northeastern on Oct. 13 by a 5-0 score. Junior Allie Kelley (East Berne, N.Y.) stopped 51 of 56 shots on goal and now holds the top-two single game saves program records after setting the current record in the 3-2 win over Maine.
- Five student-athletes registered two shots on frame while Saint Anselm fired 16 for the contest. The Hawks were 0-for-8 on the power play while Northeastern chipped in two extra-skater goals on six opportunities.
- Senior Kelly Golini (Tewksbury, Mass.), junior Devin Porazinski (Parker, Colo.), and sophomore Claire Weber (Marshfield, Mass.) all have two goals each which accounts for the six goals scored by the Hawks through four games.
- Golini has one assist to bring her season total to three points which is tied for the team lead with senior Erin Meyers (Saint Paul, Minn.) and freshman Tyra Turner (Andover, Minn.). Meyers and Turner have three assists each, joining Golini with three points through four games.
- Kelley has started all four contest in net for the Hawks. She has a 4.16 goals against average with a .920-save percentage. The junior has compiled 184 saves, averaging 46 saves per game. Freshman Annabella Lalande (Plantagenet, Ontario) has appeared in one game, making four saves in her collegiate debut against Quinnipiac on Oct. 9.
- As a team, the Hawks have blocked 79 shots in front of Kelley and Lalande. Saint Anselm has limited its opponents to three power play goals on 18 chances while the Hawks have cashed in once on 17 opportunities.
SCOUTING YALE
- Yale was selected to finish in eighth in the ECAC Hockey Preseason Coaches' Poll. The Bulldogs return 16 student-athletes from the 2019-20 season while adding 14 student-athletes who have yet to make their collegiate debuts. Yale finished the 2019-20 season with a 17-15 record overall and a 13-9 record in ECAC Hockey play.
- Yale returns its top seven scorers from last season including Claire Dalton and Charlotte Welch. Both posted over 30 points in 2019-20 with Welch finding the twine 15 times and Dalton finishing in a tie for second on the team with 12 goals. Rebecca Vanstone lit the lamp 12 times for the Bulldogs.
- Dalton recorded 24 assists, pushing her points total to 36 to lead the team in their last full season. Emma Seitz added 20 helpers while Welch finished the season with 33 points, adding 18 assists to 15 goals for 33 points.
- Giana Meloni made 21 appearances, drawing 20 starts in 2019-20. She finished the season with a 10-10 record, a 2.40-goals against average, and a .914-save percentage. Meloni stopped 545 shots on goals.
- The Bulldogs outscored their opponents by an 85-76 margin in 2019-20. They were 13-for-82 on the power play, converting with the extra-skater at a 15.9% clip. On the penalty kill, Yale killed off its penalties at a rate of 88.0% (73-83).
SCOUTING HARVARD
- The Crimson, who are receiving votes in the USCHO Division I Women's Poll, were picked to fished fourth in the ECAC Hockey Preseason Coaches' Poll. Harvard adds 14 first-year student-athletes to a returning group of 19 student-athletes. The Crimson finished the 2019-20 season with an 18-14-1 record and a 15-6-1 mark in conference action.
- The top-five point getters from the 2019-20 season are returning for the Crimson, which includes Kristin Della Rovere. Della Rovere found the back of the net 22 times in the last full season and added 15 assists for a team-high 37 points. Anne Bloomer, Dominique Petrie, and Becca Gilmore all registered more than 10 goals.
- Petrie posted a team-high 23 helpers which put her is second on the team in points with 35. Della Rovere ranked second with 15 while Gilmore and Brooke Jovanovich posted 14 assists each.
- Lindsay Reed started in 19 contests in 2019-20, finishing with a 10-8-1 record. She stopped 597 shots on goal, good for a .917-save percentage and a 2.76 goals against average. Becky Dutton appeared in eight games posting a 1.90 goals against and a .934-save percentage.
- The Crimson held a 93-85 edge in goals scored. Harvard killed penalties at an 80.8% (84-104) rate in 2019-20 while cashing in with the extra-skater on 18.1% (17-94) of its chances.
ALL-TIME vs. YALE AND HARVARD
- Saint Anselm will compete against Yale and Harvard for the first time.
- Saint Anselm is 27-25-5 against current National Collegiate level competition, excluding current NEWHA members.
- Against National Collegiate level competition, the Hawks are 0-2 against programs from Connecticut and are 24-13-4 against programs from Massachusetts.
