MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College Department of Athletics announced Dr. Benjamin Horton '12 and Cathy Sirois as the March 2020 "Hawks Soar Higher" Award selections on Tuesday.

All-Time Award Recipients

The awards for March were presented remotely via Zoom video conference with several members of the Hilltop community in attendance, including Dr. Mark Cronin, the Dean of the College, and Steve Goetsch, the institution's Vice President for Enrollment Management.

Debuting in the Fall of 2017, the special award was created to allow the Department of Athletics to recognize individuals that are instrumental to the College's efforts to offer a first-class, transformational student-athlete experience. The awards are issued each month during the academic year to two individuals employed by the institution outside of athletics.

Recipients will be colleagues, faculty, staff or administrators who advocate for Saint Anselm student-athletes and go above and beyond in their contributions each day on the Hilltop.

Dr. Horton, a 2012 graduate of Saint Anselm and a member of the Hawks men's cross country program, serves the campus community as the Assistant Director of the Academic Resource Center. Through his work, he mentors countless Saint Anselm students and currently serves as the Staff Team Advisor for the nationally-ranked field hockey squad on the Hilltop.

"As a former student-athlete, I think one of the thing I enjoy most about my work is supporting student-athletes on and off the field of play," said Dr. Horton. "Our student-athletes at Saint Anselm are multi-talented; they have a lot of skills and a lot of talents. I enjoy working with them and the coaches in the athletics department – it's such an exciting part of my job."

As the administrative assistant for the Office of Admission at Saint Anselm, Sirois has daily interactions with prospective and current students. She works with their families to ensure a smooth transition to Saint Anselm while also supporting the recruitment efforts of the coaches in Athletics.

"We see a lot of people come through the office," said Sirois. "Families are looking for a place to put their child for four years so I am hopeful that the hospitable aspects of Saint Anselm lead them in the right direction. We're all about welcoming people and families to campus. It's quite an honor to receive this award and I must say I am humbled."
