MANCHESTER, N.H. – Taking on the top team in the Northeast Division of the Northeast-10 Conference, the Saint Anselm College men's basketball team eased its way to a convincing 89-73 victory over Stonehill College on Saturday.

Saint Anselm and Stonehill are tied atop the division, sporting 10-5 records in NE10 play while Hawks move to 14-8 on the year – the Skyhawks drop to 14-9 overall. The Hawks host Southern New Hampshire this Tuesday, Feb. 11 at 7:30 p.m. in a pivotal conference and Queen City Cup fixture at Stoutenburgh Gymnasium.
All five starters for Saint Anselm reached double-digit scoring figures, led by 24 points by freshman Tyler Arbuckle (Bristol, Conn.), who had 22 points at halftime. Junior Chris Paul (Highland Mills, N.Y.) has notched 20 points with four assists with senior Danny Evans (Leeds, United Kingdom) responsible for 16 points and six rebounds. Junior Gustav Suhr-Jessen (Virum, Denmark) had 15 points.
Arbuckle also posted five steals in the win, establishing a personal-high mark. Evans also finished the game with exactly 600 points in his Hawks career – he has logged 850 points between Maine (2016-18) and Saint Anselm (2018-20). Paul has also cracked the program's top-30 list with 1,239 career points in 85 games.
Saint Anselm established its first lead of 20 points with 6:36 to go in the first half after limiting Stonehill to only nine points for the first 8:29 of regulation time. Ahead by just six points with 11:50 left in the opening half, the Hawks used a dominant 24-7 run, capped by back-to-back Arbuckle treys, to create a 39-16 lead.
Saint Anselm did not lead by less than 15 points throughout the rest of regulation, shooting 52.7% for the game and making 23 of the game's 30 foul shots. Both Paul (eight) and Arbuckle (seven) were perfect from the charity stripe.
The Hawks punished Stonehill with 22 points just off Skyhawks miscues. The Skyhawks, who were led by 23 points from Brandon Twitty, did not return the favor, cashing in with only two points off of Saint Anselm turnovers. The visitors did enjoy a 38-to-27 advantage in rebounding.
