SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Saint Anselm College men's basketball team was tripped up by the host Dolphins from Le Moyne College on Saturday by a 108-88 score.

Saint Anselm falls to 10-8 overall on the season and to 6-5 against Northeast-10 Conference opponents. Le Moyne, the leaders in the Southwest Division of the NE10, improve to 14-5 overall and to 10-1 versus the league.
Saint Anselm won the 2019 NCAA Division II East Region Championship and Le Moyne was the regional title-holder in 2018.
Senior Danny Evans (Leeds, United Kingdom) scored at least 22 points for the third consecutive game, posting five assists and four rebounds in the loss. Sophomore Miles Tention (Palo Alto, Calif.) notched 19 points with junior Chris Paul (Highland Mills, N.Y.) putting home 16 points with seven rebounds. Junior Gustav Suhr-Jessen (Virum, Denmark) led both teams with 14 rebounds, matching a career-high.
Trailing by two points, 50-48, at halftime, Le Moyne stunned the Hawks with 22 of the first 28 points of the second half and never looked back. The Hawks attempted to crawl back into the game, but Le Moyne later used a 13-5 scoring run that spanned 4:25 – Saint Anselm was without a field goal in that stretch.
The Dolphins second-half lead grew to 18 points, 98-80, with 5:17 to go. A swarming Le Moyne defense limited Saint Anselm to only four made field goals in the final 10 minutes of play – the Dolphins poured home a three with 30 seconds left in regulation, growing the lead (and final score) to a game-high 20 points, 108-88.
With the game tied at 25 late in the first half, eight consecutive points by Evans, fueled by two three-pointers, put the Hawks ahead by a 35-27 margin. Le Moyne trimmed the lead to two points at the break despite a game-high 17 points from Tention in the opening 20 minutes – he made all five of his attempts from beyond the arc.
Tom Brown led Le Moyne with 29 points and nine rebounds with Ryan Roland scoring 27.
The Hawks host Saint Rose this Wednesday, Jan. 29 at Stoutenburgh Gymnasium – the tip is slated for 7:30 p.m.
