Women's tennis concludes season with loss at Colby-Sawyer

NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College women's tennis concluded its 2018-19 season with a 8-0 defeat in a non-conference match against Colby-Sawyer College on Sunday afternoon at the Kelsey Tennis Courts.

The Hawks end the year with a 6-15 overall record while the Chargers improve to 12-5.

The duo of sophomores Maikah Bulpitt (Cumberland, R.I.) and Dominique Bolduc (Manchester, N.H.) lost a close match at No. 3 doubles against Hilary Boucher and Michelle Lopes. The Charger tandem went on to win the match in a tie-breaker by a score of 8-7.

Freshman Emily Jacy (Glastonbury, Conn.) and junior Kaitlin Hughes (Rockland, Mass.) battled in a tough No. 1 doubles flight against Yashu Yang and Anna Kopituk, falling by a score of 8-7.

Senior Kayla Hodas (Peabody, Mass.) lost a close match at No. 5 singles. The first set ended with a 6-4 final in favor of Hodas while the two battled to a 6-1 score in the second set, which went to Alexa Conlin. Conlin eventually won the third stanza by a score of 10-5.

Hughes dropped a close match at No. 1 singles against Yang 6-2, 6-0, while Jacy fell in a two-set match at No. 3 singles against Maddy Gemerek, 6-3, 6-4. At the No. 6 singles, Boucher played strong in her match before falling 6-1, 6-1. Bulpitt was defeated by O'Connor at the No. 4 singles, 6-1, 6-1.
