MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College men's basketball team opened the 2018-19 season with a 95-63 victory over Bishop's University in an exhibition contest from Stoutenburgh Gymnasium on Friday night.

Box Score | Highlights

Saint Anselm shot an impressive 45.3 percent from the field, including 39.3 percent from three-point range. The Hawks were also 26-of-30 from the free throw line.

Senior Tim Guers (Langhorne, Pa.) led the Hawks offense with 28 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Classmate Cody Ball (Londonderry, N.H.) and sophomore Chris Paul (Highland Mills, N.Y.) had 14 and 13 points, respectively.

The Hawks jumped out to a 19-6 lead in the first five minutes of the opening half and did not look back. They went into the first intermission with a 57-29 lead. Guers scored 17 of his 28 points in the first half.

Bishop's opened the second half with a 6-0 run, but that was short lived as Ball nailed a three-pointer to stop the short scoreless draught for the Hawks. Saint Anselm narrowly outscored Bishop's 38-34 in the second half, but did not allow the visiting team to get within 25 the entire half.

Saint Anselm opens the regular season in Waltham, Mass. at Bentley University on Saturday, Nov. 10 taking on Bloomfield. Tipoff is set for 5 p.m.
