MANCHESTER, N.H. – Madison Sollows had a team-high 12 kills and Jewel Hays added a double-double to lead the Saint Anselm College volleyball team to a 25-20, 25-18, 24-26, 25-19 win over Pace University in the team's Northeast-10 Conference opener on Saturday afternoon at Stoutenburgh Gymnasium.

Sollows tallied her 12 kills with just one error on 25 swings to hit a blistering .440 in the match and also was in on six blocks for Saint Anselm (9-1, 1-0 NE-10), while Hays registered 40 assists and a team-best 17 digs. The win was the Hawks' fourth-straight victory in the series against Pace (11-3, 0-1 NE-10) and the team's fourth consecutive win, all in four-set matches.
Amanda Williams pitched in with 11 kills, Brennah Gladwill had nine and Katy Teets recorded seven for Saint Anselm. CC Chrisom and Sarah Lowery joined Hays in double figures in assists with 16 and 15, respectively, while Danielle Isbell had nine.
Claudia Fontanet paced the Setters with 15 kills and 17 digs and hit .424 in the match. Sydney Lecker totaled nine kills and Danielle Vaiano made a match-high 22 digs for the visitors.
In the first set, Saint Anselm broke an 8-8 tie with a run of four-straight points and later opened up a 20-14 lead after a Lowery ace and a Williams kill. Pace hung around to get within 22-19 late in the set but Teets closed out the set with a kill to give it to the Hawks 25-20.
The Setters started the second set quickly by racing out to a 7-3 lead in the early goings. Saint Anselm battled back to take its first lead at 11-10 and rattled off a quick 3-0 run to take a 19-16 advantage. The Hawks closed out the set on back-to-back aces by Lowery to take a 2-0 lead.
Pace again opened up a lead early in the third, winning eight of the first 11 points to cause a Saint Anselm timeout. The Hawks evened the set at 14-14 after a 4-0 run and eventually held set points at 24-22. However, the Setters fought them off and finished off the set with a 4-0 run of their own to force the match to a fourth set.
In the fourth, it was the Hawks' turn to start strong as they opened up an 8-2 lead after back-to-back aces by Sollows. Saint Anselm built a commanding 20-11 lead before Pace mounted a furious 8-0 rally to get within one. With their lead cut to a point, the Hawks clinched the win by winning the final five points.
Saint Anselm hosts Assumption on Tuesday, Sept. 27 at 7 p.m. on Alumni Recognition Night at Stoutenburgh Gymnasium.
