Saint Anselm put on a pair of runners in their half of the first as Tyler McKeon (Rutland, Mass.) reached on an error and Paul Trabucco singled up the middle. Unfortunately, Damian Powers struck out the final two batters of the inning to end the threat.
Wright extended the lead to 3-0 with a two-run double in the top of the eight, and he eventually scored on a wild pitch to make it a 4-0 ball game.
After the Hawks were held to only hit from the second through the seventh inning, the bats finally woke up in the bottom of the eighth as Allan McQuarrie opened the inning with a single to left and Jon McQuarrie followed with a single in the hole. After an out, Matthew Flynn (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) worked a walk and the Hawks had the bases loaded with a chance to tie the game. As he had done earlier in the game, Powers escaped trouble by striking out the next batter he faced and forced a tapper back to the mound to end the inning.
Neither team threatened in the ninth inning as the Dolphins took the opener 4-0.

Dylan Swetman made the Hawks pay in the next at-bat as he rolled a single through the right side, allowing Martin to score, and giving the Dolphins a 2-0 lead.
The visitors pushed the lead to 3-0 on a similar play in the top of the third as Wright reached on a throwing error and Gabe Levanti scored from third. With two outs in the bottom of the ninth, Wadington pinch hit and dropped a single into right field. He advanced to second and eventually scored on a Connor Parent RBI single to left field that gave the game its final score of 5-2.
