MANCHESTER, N.H. – Eight different players scored for the Saint Anselm College women's lacrosse team as the Hawks breezed past Southern Connecticut State 17-5 on Saturday afternoon at Grappone Stadium.

Caitlin Villareal paced Saint Anselm (4-3, 3-3 NE-10) with four goals, Erin Marshall and Emma Palumbo each had three goals and an assist and Erica Mattila and Marta Versprille each scored twice. The Hawks outshot Southern Connecticut (3-6, 1-4 NE-10) by a wide 34-11 margin in the win.
After the Owls opened the scoring, the Hawks rattled off four consecutive goals to take a lead they would not relinquish. Villareal, Marshall, Versprille and Palumbo scored in a span of less than three minutes in the early goings for Saint Anselm.
Southern Connecticut stayed with three, 6-3, with 12:12 remaining in the first half but Saint Anselm scored the final five goals of the half to take a commanding 11-3 halftime advantage. The five-goal flurry came in the final 10 minutes of the half and included a pair of free position goals by Mattila.
Saint Anselm continued to pull away in the second half, scoring the first two goals to take a 10-goal lead. Marshall set up a Villareal tally and then got one of her own in the first 5:01 of the half. The Hawks led by at least nine the rest of the way.
Nicole Healey scored three goals for Southern Connecticut State, while Samantha Cozzolino and Kennedy Sherman each found the back of the net once.
Jane Bunn needed to make just one save in 44:50 to pick up the win. Zoie Cavotta played the final 15:10 and made one stop. Chelsea Callahan and Alexandra Takacs split time in net for the Owls, each playing a half and combining for 12 saves.
The Hawks won 14-of-21 draws on the afternoon and picked up 17-of-27 ground balls.
Saint Anselm is back at it on Tuesday, April 5 at 1 p.m. at Le Moyne.
