SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Saint Anselm College women's lacrosse team fought back by scoring the game's final four goals but fell 14-7 at No. 2 Le Moyne in Northeast-10 Conference play on Tuesday afternoon at Ted Grant Field.

Saint Anselm (4-4, 3-4 NE-10) trailed Le Moyne (9-0, 6-0 NE-10) 14-3 with 15:23 remaining before closing the game with four-straight goals. Caitlin Villareal paced the Hawks with three goals for her sixth hat trick of the season and her three goals brought her over 30 for the fourth consecutive season.
Villareal's three points gave her an even 200 for her career, making her the fifth player in program history to hit the 200-point milestone.
Erin Marshall added a goal and an assist, while Erica Mattila, Molly Beck and Meaghan Sheehy all found the back of the net. Marshall tracked down a team-best three ground balls and Liv Connly, Kate DeBenedetto and Jessica Masse each had two.
Jamie Traverse had three draw controls, while Marshall and Beck had two apiece. Jane Bunn stopped 11 shots in net for the Hawks to record her ninth-career double-digit save performance.
Erica Geremia led the Dolphins with three goals and three assists and Vicki Gravelin scored three times. Eight players scored for Le Moyne on the afternoon.
Le Moyne built a 4-0 lead in the first 10 minutes of the game before Saint Anselm got goals from Mattila and Villareal to cut the deficit in half. However, the Dolphins scored the game's next nine goals to lead 13-2 with 20:37 remaining in the second half.
Down by 11, the Hawks scored five of the game's final six goals, including the final four. Marshall started the run with a free position shot, Villareal completed her hat trick with two goals and Beck and Sheehy also scored late on.
After being outscored 9-2 and outshot 16-7 in the first half, Saint Anselm played Le Moyne even in the second, as the teams each scored five goals on 12 shots after the break. The Hawks won 8-of-11 draw controls in the second half but were just 1-for-6 on free position shots in the game.
Saint Anselm plays host to Pace on Saturday, April 9 at 7 p.m. at Grappone Stadium.
