RINDGE, N.H. – Brian Kavanagh was victorious in both singles and doubles for the Saint Anselm College men's tennis team in a 6-3 loss to Franklin Pierce on Monday afternoon in a Northeast-10 Conference match.

Kavanagh battled past Drew Bennett 5-7, 6-4, 10-8 at No. 4 singles and teamed with Alex Pearson for a 9-7 win at third doubles for Saint Anselm (3-10, 2-6 NE-10). However, Franklin Pierce (5-14, 2-6 NE-10) got wins at the top two doubles flights and the top three singles positions to pick up the victory.
In doubles play, the Ravens recorded wins in competitive matches at first and second doubles. At the top spot, Marcus Lawrence and Andrew Schadt topped Eric Howes and Kyle Harris 8-5. Daniel Kmetz and Adam Weinstein were edged 9-7 at the second spot by James Bisazza and Olivier Viel.
Kavanagh and Pearson notched their third win in as many matches as a tandem this season by posting a narrow 9-7 victory over Drew Bennett and Dan Longtin to give the Hawks a point heading into singles play.
Franklin Pierce won the top three singles matches in straight sets to put the match out of reach, while Kavanagh came back from a set down to win a third-set tiebreaker 10-8 in the lone match of the day to go the distance.
The matches at No. 5 and No. 6 singles were shortened with the team result already determined. Benji Page won his team-best sixth NE-10 match of the season at sixth singles by virtue of an 8-2 win over Joshua Singer, while Olivier Viel downed Kyle Harris 8-3 at fifth singles.
Saint Anselm returns to action with a home NE-10 match against Bentley on Wednesday, April 20 at 3 p.m.
