Stonehill (18-13, 7-6 NE-10) scored seven runs over the final two innings, including a five-run eighth, to run away with game one 8-2. Saint Anselm (8-23, 3-11 NE-10) outhit the Skyhawks 9-8 in the game, led by two hits each for Paul Trabucco and Max Wadington.

The Skyhawks got on the board first, scoring a run in the top of the first on a sacrifice fly by Brian Hocking. With the early run, Stonehill starter Michael Young held Saint Anselm scoreless through the first six innings, while Tom Hudon matched Young inning-by-inning, leaving the visitors up 1-0 after six.

The Hawks tied the game in the bottom of the seventh. Allan McQuarrie doubled to right center to start the inning, moved to third on a bunt by Wadington and scored on a fielder's choice off the bat of his brother Jon McQuarrie.

Dan Bodi and Matthew Flynn followed the fielder's choice with singles, leaving the bases load with one out, but Young avoided further damage by getting a pair of ground balls.

With the game tied, Stonehill plated five runs in the top of the eighth, three on a home run by Ben Monte. The Hawks got one back in the bottom of the eighth on a double play but the Skyhawks responded with two in the top of the ninth. Monte picked up his fourth RBI of the game in the ninth.

Young picked up his third win of the season by working eight innings, allowing two runs on nine hits with two walks and six strikeouts. Mike Krupczak pitched a scoreless ninth for the Skyhawks.

After allowing the first-inning run, Hudon cruised through the seventh before running into trouble in the eighth. The senior lefthander allowed six runs (four earned) on six hits over 7.2 innings, while Seve Llanio gave up two runs (one earned) in the final 1.1 innings.

After Stonehill scored in the first, Saint Anselm took the lead with two in the bottom of the second. After the Hawks loaded the bases with one out, Wadington scored on a wild pitch and Ken Morrisino followed with a sacrifice fly to put the hosts ahead 2-1.

Eddie Bowler's second run-scoring hit of the game in the third tied the game and the score remained 2-2 until the Hawks plated four runs on four hits in the bottom of the fourth. McKeon's two-run double broke the deadlock and Aaron Crandall and Nick Bragole each had RBI hits in the frame.
