Men's tennis gets win from Page and two doubles points in loss to Stonehill

MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm men's tennis team got two doubles points and a singles win from Benji Page in a 6-3 loss to Stonehill on Saturday afternoon at Saint Anselm Outdoor Tennis Courts.

Saint Anselm (3-9, 2-5 NE-10) took a 2-1 lead after doubles play but Stonehill (9-7, 5-3 NE-10) came back with five straight-set singles victories to capture the win.

The pair of Daniel Kmetz and Adam Weinstein recorded an 8-3 win over Tom Buckley and Gerard Tierney at No. 2 doubles to improve to 5-2 this season. Brian Kavanagh and Alex Pearson downed Jeffrey Gagnon and Dimitri Vlassov 8-1 No. 3 doubles for their second win in as many matches.

The Skyhawks got straight-set wins at the top-five singles positions from Thomas Bellio, Nikolay Lisichenok, Joan Castillo, Buckley and Gagnon. Page's 6-4, 6-3 win over Tierney at No. 6 singles was his team-best seventh singles win of the season and his second in a row.

Saint Anselm plays a rescheduled match at Franklin Pierce on Monday, April 18 at 3 p.m.
