Hawks score late, Hudon dominates in 4-0 win at Saint Michael's

COLCHESTER, Vt. - Behind a complete game shutout from Tom Hudon (Merrimack, N.H.), the Saint Anselm College baseball team defeated Saint Michael's College, 4-0, on Wednesday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action in Colchester, Vt.

Box Score

Hudon (2-5) threw nine innings while scattering five hits and striking out eight in the victory for the Hawks (7-18, 3-6 NE-10, 3-2 NE-10 NE). Hudon outdueled Saint Michael's (1-15, 0-7, 0-6 NE-10) Dylan Lavery who lasted 8.2 innings and gave up five hits, four earned runs, and three walks with 12 strikeouts.

Saint Anselm did all their damage offensively in the top of the ninth as Sean Doherty (Haverhill, Mass.) led off the inning with a single and Ken Morrisino (East Longmeadow, Mass.) worked a walk to put two runners on. Paul Trabucco (Salem, N.H.) sacrificed the runners into scoring position and Shaine Carpenter (Florham Park, N.J.) got a bunt single down that allowed Doherty to score and put the Hawks on top 1-0.

Nick Bragole (Newburyport, Mass.) followed with an RBI single through the left side, and after Allan McQuarrie (Salem, N.H.) reached on a fielder's choice to put runners on the corners, pinch-runner Jason Turner (Milton, Mass.) scored on a wild pitch to make it a three-run lead.

Aaron Crandall (Billerica, Mass.) greeted the Saint Michael's relief pitcher with an RBI single as that would be all the runs Hudon would need to close out the game, making quick work of the Purple Knights in the bottom of the ninth to post a 4-0 victory.

The Hawks will travel to Merrimack College for a conference game tomorrow afternoon scheduled for a 3:30 p.m. first pitch.
