GARDEN CITY, N.Y. – The Saint Anselm College volleyball team suffered just its second Northeast-10 Conference loss of the season, falling 25-19, 25-18, 25-15 at reigning conference champion Adelphi University on Saturday afternoon at the Center for Recreation and Sport.

Adelphi (17-10, 8-4 NE-10) held Saint Anselm (19-5, 9-2 NE-10) to a .056 attack percentage, the Hawks' second-lowest mark of the season, and hit .245 themselves to record the sweep. The loss snapped Saint Anselm's five-match winning streak, which included four NE-10 wins.
Madison Sollows and Amanda Williams each had seven kills to lead the Hawks, while Katy Teets and Sarah Lowery each added six. Teets recorded a match and career-high 16 digs, while CC Chrisom tallied 14. Jewel Hays handed out 30 assists over the three sets.
Melissa Rigo paced the Panthers with a match-high 12 kills and added seven digs, five block assists, three assists and two aces. Mandy Stanislovaitis contributed a double-double of 11 kills and 15 digs for Adelphi, while Sierra Cook made 14 digs. The Panthers held a 12-2 advantage in blocks in the match.
Adelphi took control of set one early, using a 6-0 run to go ahead 11-4. Late in the set, the Hawks climbed to within four, 21-17, after two kills by Williams on either side of one from Teets. However, the Panthers won the next three points and went on to close out the set 25-19.
The two teams were locked at 11-11 in the second set before Adelphi used a 5-1 run to take a four-point lead. The Hawks stayed close until the Panthers pulled away by winning four of five points to establish a 23-16 advantage.
Adelphi broke an 8-8 tie in the third set by rattling off three-straight and seven of the next eight points for a 15-9 lead. Back-to-back kills from Sollows and Brennah Gladwill cut Saint Anselm's deficit to four, 16-12, but the Panthers stretched their lead to 20-12 by claiming the next four points and went on to close out the match.
Saint Anselm closes out the regular season with three consecutive home matches, beginning with a matchup with Stonehill on Tuesday, Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. The match will be the Hawks' first on their home court since Oct. 8.
