HOOKSETT, N.H. – Timothy Baylis scored on a short-handed breakaway with 1:34 left in the third period to give host Southern New Hampshire University a 3-2 victory over the Saint Anselm College men's hockey team in Northeast-10 Conference action on Tuesday evening at the Ice Den.

Southern New Hampshire (7-3-0, 3-1-0 NE-10) led 2-0 after two periods before Saint Anselm (3-4-0, 2-1-0 NE-10) scored twice in the third period to tie the game. However, Baylis' late short-handed goal handed the Hawks their first NE-10 setback of the season.
The Penmen scored once in each of the first two periods to lead 2-0 despite being outshot 35-18 over the first 40 minutes and 24-6 in the second period alone. Chris Moquin gave the hosts the lead at 6:20 of the opening period and Michael Busconi doubled SNHU's lead on the power play at 11:54 of the second.
Saint Anselm got on the board at 6:08 of the third on a short-handed goal by Trey Aiello. On the penalty kill, the Hawks forced a turnover in the neutral zone that led to Jeremy Carignan skating in on the right and finding Aiello in front for the freshman's fourth goal in the last five games.
With 5:06 remaining, the Hawks tied the game at 2-2 on a power-play goal by Peter Sikalis just 19 seconds after a major penalty on the Penmen. Saint Anselm set up the power play and Vin D'Amato set up Sikalis, who blasted home a slap shot from just inside the blue line straight on.
The Hawks continued on the power play after the major but it was the Penmen who broke the tie late on with the fourth special teams goal of the game. Both teams scored once on the power play and once short-handed with Aiello's goal being Saint Anselm's third short-handed goal already this season.
Shane Joyce stopped 29 shots for Saint Anselm, while Ryan Slatky made 47 saves for Southern New Hampshire to pick up the win. The shot count finished 49-32 in favor of the Hawks for the game.
