MANCHESTER, N.H. – Daniel Kmetz and Brian Kavanagh each won both their matches to lead the Saint Anselm College men's tennis team to a 6-3 non-conference victory over Salem State on Wednesday afternoon at South Tennis Courts.

Saint Anselm (1-3) picked up two points in doubles and victories at the last four singles flights to defeat Salem State (0-2). Kmetz, Kavanagh, Kyle Harris and Benji Page each recorded straight-set wins in singles for the Hawks.
Kavanagh and Alex Pearson gave the Hawks their first doubles by by making quick work of Noah Hodgkins and Mitchell Dyer 8-0 at No. 3 doubles. After the Vikings got an 8-2 win at the top spot, Adam Weinstein and Kmetz battled for an 8-6 victory at the second spot to give Saint Anselm the edge heading to singles.
Kmetz earned his first win of the season by taking down John Didonato 6-4, 6-2 at No. 3 singles. Kavanagh came through in two close sets with a 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) victory over Chen Chen at the fourth spot.
Harris rolled through the first set of his match and closed out Hodgkins 6-0, 6-4 at fifth singles, while Page dropped just two games in a 6-1, 6-1 win over Dyer at No. 6 singles.
Salem State got singles points from Cody Famiglietti and Gabe Serna at the top-two spots. Famiglietti held off Eric Howes 6-3, 7-6 (7-3) at the top spot and Serna outlasted Adam Weinstein 6-4, 4-6, 10-8 at the second spot.
Saint Anselm is back at it on Friday, Oct. 7 with a home non-conference match against Regis (Mass.) at 4 p.m.
