SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The #6-ranked Saint Anselm College field hockey team picked up their fourth-straight victory with a 3-1 win over #10 American International College on Saturday afternoon in Springfield, Mass.

The Hawks improve to 12-2 overall and 7-1 in the Northeast-10 Conference and will travel to Saint Michael's College on Wednesday, Oct. 19 for a 3 p.m. matchup in their next game. AIC drops to 10-5 and 6-4 with the setback.
Michelle Lemelin opened up the scoring for Saint Anselm as she deflected a shot off the stick of Maddie Bressler in the 19th minute of action to put the Hawks on top 1-0 early in the first period. Jackie Guillemette extended the lead to 2-0 just over eight minutes later off a pass from Allia Connolly to give the Hawks a two-goal advantage headed into the half.
American International cut the deficit in half less than six minutes into the second half as Taylor Ruscillo scored off a rebound from a shot off the stick of Payton Montague to make it a 2-1 game.
The Yellow Jackets only threatened once the rest of the period as the Hawks were able to maintain possession and keep the ball out of harm's way. With less than 30 seconds to play, Maddie Bressler was able to convert a goal on a corner play off a pass from Mia Vecchione to seal the 3-1 win for Saint Anselm.
The Hawks held a 12-10 advantage in shots in the game, while both teams attempted four penalty corners. Katherine Sears made five saves in her 12th victory of the year for Saint Anselm, while AIC's Taylor Ross also made five stops in the setback.
