COLCHESTER, Vt. – No. 3 Saint Anselm College cruised to a 3-0 victory over Saint Michael's College on Wednesday afternoon in a Northeast-10 Conference field hockey matchup at Duffy Field in Colchester, Vt.

The Hawks improve to 13-2 overall and 8-1 in the NE-10, while the Purple Knights drop to 4-11 and 1-8 in league games. Saint Anselm returns to action on Saturday afternoon when they host Southern Connecticut State at 5 p.m. in a game that will serve as the annual Senior Day for the Hawks.
Saint Anselm controlled play in the opening minutes of action as the Hawks attempted the first three penalty corners of the game, but had only came away with one shot.
On their third corner attempt, Erin Collins played the ball to the left side of the circle and it moved its way to the top to Kelsey Leblanc. Leblanc played a pass to the right side of the goal to Katie Neyland for the open goal that put the Hawks on top 1-0. It was Neyland's first goal of the season for Saint Anselm and was the only score in the opening 35 minutes.
After halftime, Saint Anselm had a chance for an insurance goal off another corner in the 47th minute as Neyland had a shot on goal that required a defensive save from Saint Michael's Katie Leonard. Michelle Lemelin was there for the rebound, but her shot was turned away by the Saint Michael's goalie to keep it a one-goal game.
Collins gave the Hawks the insurance goal they were looking for in the 54th minute of action. After she inserted the ball on a corner play to Anna Drakeley, Drakeley fired on net and Collins was there to tip the shot past the keeper to give Saint Anselm the 2-0 advantage.
Allia Connolly made it a 3-0 game in the final five minutes of action as she slammed home a rebound following a shot by Emma Bartle to help the Hawks cruise to the three-goal victory.
Saint Anselm held a 14-0 edge in shots in the game while attempting eight penalty corners to just two for the home team. Katherine Sears picked up her 13th win of the season for the Hawks, while Abigail Bowie dropped to 4-11 while making eight saves.
