Green's career-night leads Hawks past Ravens

Box Score

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Saint Anselm College freshman Bryan Green (Weymouth, Mass.) scored his first three career goals as part of a hat-trick to lead the Hawks to a 5-1 victory over Franklin Pierce University on Tuesday night in Winchendon, Mass.

The Hawks improve to 9-6-1 overall and 3-0-0 in the Northeast-10 Conference, while the Ravens fall to 2-14-0 and 0-4-0 in league games.

Brendon Kerrigan (Boston, Mass.) and Jon Pallotta (Leominster, Mass.) added two assists apiece for multi-point games, while Bryan Sullivan (Burlington, Mass.) and Vin D'Amato (Sutton, Mass.) scored the other tallies for the Hawks. Shane Joyce (Pembroke, Mass.) grabbed his eight win of the season by stopping 15-of-16 shots on the night.

Green's first score of the game came 9:50 into the opening period as he took advantage of a scramble in front of the net. Pallotta played a shot from the left circle that was tipped on net by Jeremy Carignan (Amos, Quebec). Green found himself alone in front of the net as the Franklin Pierce goalie was caught out of position and he buried his first career goal to put the Hawks on top 1-0.

The freshman wasted little time in finding his second career tally as he scored 5:55 into the second period to put the Hawks in front 2-0. Pallotta and Green connected again as Pallotta found Green for a quick snipe from the left circle that went five-hole to give Saint Anselm the two-goal lead.

Later in the period, Saint Anselm earned a power play opportunity and took advantage to pull ahead 3-0. Green was credited with the goal following a scrum in front of the net with Bryan Sullivan and Brendon Kerrigan picking up assists on the tally.

Franklin Pierce got one back just over four minutes later as Matt Batis wound up a wrist shot that tucked inside the top right corner of the goal to pull the Ravens within two goals at 3-1 headed into the final period.

Midway through the third period, the Hawks struck again on the power play as Mark Meads (Middleton, Mass.), Nick Leonard (Methuen, Mass.) and Bryan Sullivan worked a little give-and-go up the ice, resulting in a one-time finish for Sullivan to make it a 4-1 advantage. Vin D'Amato would round out the scoring only 50 seconds later as he corralled a rebound off a tipped shot from Peter Sikalis (Acton, Mass.) to ice the game, 5-1.

Saint Anselm held a 35-16 advantage in shots on goal in the game while converting on 2-of-9 of their power play chances. Franklin Pierce's Kyle Moran suffered the setback in goal, making 30 saves on the night.

The Hawks return to action on Friday night when they host Saint Michael's College at 7:00 p.m. as a part of Pink in the Rink weekend at the Sullivan Arena.
