HOW IT HAPPENED
- Saint Anselm jumped out to a 5-0 lead early before four straight points from Rodney Sanders sparked a 9-0 run that put the Penmen in front by four just over three minutes into the contest. - Walters netted five points as part of a 7-2 spurt that trimmed the Southern New Hampshire deficit to five at 25-20 midway through the stanza. The Penmen would inch as close as four at 27-23 with just under seven minutes on the clock, but Saint Anselm would double up the visitors, 12-6, to close out the half and bring a 39-29 lead into the locker room. McCahey contributed six points during the flurry, while Braley added four.
- Five points from Braley near the beginning of the second half would spark a 7-0 spurt that stretched the Saint Anselm lead to 52-37 with 14:42 remaining. Southern New Hampshire would respond as a pair of Sanders buckets bookended a 9-0 rush that slashed the deficit to 54-48 with 8:41 left.
- Saint Anselm answered with an 8-2 counter-run that included five points from McCahey and pushed the lead up to 12 at 62-50 with 6:06 on the clock. Joshua (6) and sophomore Taylor Fortin (Tolland, Conn.; 4) would combine to score the final 10 points of the game to put it away.
