Women's Soccer Catholic Cup Championship Postponed

MANCHESTER, N.H. – After nearly a three-hour delay, the championship of the Catholic Cup women's soccer tournament was postponed Saturday afternoon as inclement weather rolled through southern New Hampshire.

The skies looked ominous as the pre-match warm-up activities, but finally the referees called the game less than one minute into the second period of a 0-0 tie between host Saint Anselm (1-0) and Stonehill College (1-0).

Assumption College (1-1) defeated Saint Michael's College (0-2) in Saturday's consolation game, 5-0, to take home third place in the second annual tournament. Assumption won the 2013 crown with a 2-1 win over Stonehill in the championship.

Full details of a resumed, restarted or otherwise made-up championship game between Stonehill and Saint Anselm will be released at a later date.
