WEST HAVEN, Conn. – The Saint Anselm men's soccer team struggled to find the back of the net in its fourth straight Northeast-10 Conference game Saturday afternoon, 3-0 to the University of New Haven.
Saint Anselm (1-5, 0-4 Northeast-10) actually outshot the host Chargers 14-13 for the game, but a trio of early strikes proved too much to overcome. New Haven (2-5, 1-2 NE-10) scored goals in the 12th, 19th and the 43rd minute to take a commanding lead into the half—one it would never relinquish.
Saint Anselm sophomore goalkeeper Stephen McLeod (Chelmsford, Mass.) picked up five saves in his second start of the season, taking his first losing decision to fall to 1-1 in the box.
The Hawks return to NE-10 action Tuesday, hosting Saint Michael's College at 3:30 p.m. at Melucci Field.
