Men's Hockey Shutout by Greyhounds, 4-0

WORCESTER, Mass. – Despite a 27-shot advantage for the game, the Saint Anselm men's hockey team was shutout by Northeast-10 rival Assumption, 4-0, at Charles J. Buffone Arena in Worcester Wednesday evening.

The loss drops the Hawks to 2-5-1 overall and 0-1-1 in NE-10 play.

While five different Hawks recorded four shots on goal on the night, Saint Anselm couldn't put one past Greyhound goaltender Chris Hemhauser who tallied a game-high 44 saves.

Assumption's Brandon Bete scored the opening game-winning goal just 43 seconds into the game and rung the bell once in the second and third periods to record a hat trick in Wednesday's win.

Both third period goals for Assumption (3-7, 2-3 NE-10) came against an empty net as the Hawks pulled freshman goaltender Shane Joyce (Pembroke, Mass.) in the waning minutes of the game. Joyce tallied 13 saves Wednesday.

Saint Anselm will return to Sullivan Arena Friday evening to host the Pilgrims of New England College in a 7 p.m. matchup.
