Women's Soccer Dispatches Pace, 1-0

BRIARCLIFF, N.Y. – Sophomore Taylor Levy (Norton, Mass.) scored in the 57th minute to lift the Saint Anselm College women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Pace University on Saturday afternoon at Pace Field for Northeast-10 women's soccer action.

With the win, Saint Anselm will improve to 3-3-1 overall and 2-2-0 in the league, while Pace drops to a 1-6-1 overall record and 1-3-1 in NE-10 play.

Levy positioned herself in front of the Pace defense, picked up a pass from senior Siobhan Flaherty (Braintree, Mass.) and sent the ball into the lower left corner of the net for the 1-0 lead late in the game.

Saint Anselm held off the Setters for the remainder of the contest to preserve the win.

Freshman Cassie Quattropani (East Hartford, Conn.), who played the first half of the contest, stopped both shots she faced, while junior Gabriella Primera (Kennett Square, Pa.)  made five saves. Pace's Chelsea Green made two saves for the Setters. Pace held the 17-9 edge in shots on goal.

The Hawks return to the field Wednesday, Oct. 2 at 4 p.m. when they play host to Saint Michael's College.
