Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Tripped Up By Le Moyne, 6-0

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Zachary MacNabb and Emmanuel Chanelo each potted a pair of goals to lead Le Moyne College to Saturday afternoon's 6-0 Northeast-10 victory against the Saint Anselm College men's soccer team at Ted Grant Field.

The Hawks drop to 2-3 on the season, including 1-2 in Northeast-10 play, while the Dolphins better their record to 4-1, 2-0 NE-10.

Le Moyne drew first blood just 9:20 into the match when Cal Filtch's service to the left side of the box found Keleenna Onyeaka, who headed the ball into the right side from six yards out to make it 1-0.

MacNabb earned his first goal at the 22:00 mark as he popped one in at the left post after Ethan Gunty's cross from the right was redirected in front by Alexander Lautner.

The game remained 2-0 a third of the way into the second half until MacNabb and Lautner connected again. MacNabb collected Lautner's pass from the top of the box on the left side and fired a shot into the left-right corner of the net to stretch the Le Moyne lead to three at 60:12.

Late in the 67th minute, MacNabb became a facilitator as he set up Chanelo with a ball up the middle that Chanelo corralled and booted through the legs of junior goalkeeper Bret Macko (Bolton, Mass.) to make it 4-0. Chanelo struck again just 1:53 later as he buried a shot into the left-right corner off a cross from the near corner by Mark Gentile that extended the lead to five.

The Dolphins closed the scoring midway through the 77th minute when Taylor Spear's feed from the left side connected with the foot of Liam Roohan, who found the back of the net.

Senior goalkeeper Mark Kotsopoulos (Shrewsbury, Mass.) was tagged with the decision as he started and stopped two of the four shots he faced in 24:21 of action. Macko played the final 65:30 and made two saves. Le Moyne keeper Matthew Silva stopped the one shot he saw from senior Kevin Greene (Londonderry, N.H.) to earn the shutout.

Le Moyne outshot Saint Anselm, 13-6, including 9-2 in the second stanza. The Dolphins also held a 5-3 advantage in corner kicks, including 4-0 in the second half.

The Hawks return to action Wednesday, Sept. 25 at 7 p.m. when they take on crosstown rival Southern New Hampshire University at Larkin Field. The next home game for the Hawks is Saturday, Sept. 28 at 1 p.m. when they play host to the University of New Haven at Melucci Field.
