WORCESTER, Mass. – Freshman Brennah Gladwill (Citrus Heights, Calif.) notched the first double-double of her career with a personal-best 20 kills and a career-high 10 assists, but the Saint Anselm College volleyball team closed out its season with a 3-2 loss to Assumption College on Saturday afternoon at Laska Gymnasium.
Set scores were 21-25, 25-20, 27-29, 25-18, 15-9.
The Hawks close out 2013 at 7-20 overall, including 2-12 in Northeast-10 play, while the Greyhounds finish at 6-17, 3-11 NE-10.
Gladwill, who hit at a .415 clip, piled up the most kills for a Hawk since Charlotte Tencza racked up 21 kills at Franklin Pierce on Oct. 25, 2011. Gladwill also added in a pair of service aces for good measure. Senior Kyla Gustavson (Nashua, N.H.) also played a large role in the offense with 12 kills and helped out defensively with a career-high 28 digs. Junior Melissa Ouellet (Salem, N.H.) produced 10 kills to go along with a .375 hitting percentage. Senior Vivian Fitzgerald (Winfield, Ill.) also chipped in with eight kills.
In addition to Gustavson, defensively, junior Melissa Jewett (Newton, Mass.) compiled a team-high 29 digs. Classmate Natalie Steinwart (Aurora, Ill.) registered her 10th double-double of the season with 18 digs and 43 assists, which is her third best mark of the season. Freshman CC Chrisom (Dover, N.H.) tallied 15 digs.
This marked the final career match for seniors Gustavson, Fitzgerald and Kylie Kozlowski (Quincy, Mass.).
