WALTHAM, Mass. – Senior George Lamptey (Worcester, Mass.) scored in the 76th minute of the game, but the Saint Anselm men's soccer team fell to Bentley University, 3-1, Tuesday afternoon for Northeast-10 men's soccer action.
The Falcons drew first blood 11:44 into the contest as Forrest Scaringe sent a corner kick into the box that was headed into the net by Andrew Fenn for the 1-0 lead.
Bentley doubled up their lead at 16:02 when Marty Ryan connected with Nick Hoffman for the 2-0 strike. Bentley found the net one last time in the first half as Jose Tirado picked up a loose ball and fired it into the back of the net from eight yards out.
Lamptey's goal came at 75:39 when he sent a blast into the left side of the net after picking up a ball that had come free in the box.
Saint Anselm goalkeeper Mark Kotsopoulos (Shrewsbury, Mass.) made six saves, while Bentley's Jack Blatchford stopped four of five shots on goal. Saint Anselm was outshot just 15-18 and Bentley held an 8-3 edge in corner kicks.
