Men's Tennis Earns First Win of Season, 8-1, Against Le Moyne

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Freshmen Chris Schwab (Seaford, N.Y.) and Andrew Overton (Woodbury, Conn.), as well as sophomore Kyle White (Cambridge, Mass.), each won their first career singles matches to help lift the Saint Anselm College men's tennis team to an 8-1 victory against Le Moyne College on Sunday afternoon at the Saint Anselm Outdoor Tennis Courts.

With the win, the Hawks improve to 1-1 on the season and in Northeast-10 play, while the Dolphins drop to 0-2.

Schwab defeated Alessandro Nieves, 6-2, 6-1, in No. 2 singles, while White took down Michael Green, 6-0, 6-4, in No. 4 singles and Overton captured a 6-3, 6-3 No. 6 singles victory against Blaine Drake.

Sophomore Nick Schwab (Seaford, N.Y.) dispatched of Shane Evans, 6-2, 6-4, in No. 1 singles action, while senior Michael Hanna (Southborough, Mass.) earned a No. 5 singles victory against Robert Brooks, 6-0, 6-4.

The Schwab brothers teamed up in No. 1 doubles to grab an 8-3 win against Nieves and Johnson. Senior Joseph Zucchi (Methuen, Mass.) and White combined for an 8-4 victory in No. 2 doubles against Green and Evans, while Hanna and freshman John Joyce (Juneau, Alaska) defeated John Gerstner and Blake, 8-3.

The Hawks return to action Tuesday, Sept. 18 at 3:30 p.m. when they play host to Southern New Hampshire University at the Outdoor Tennis Courts.
