MANCHESTER, N.H. – Senior Amanda Brahm (Marlborough, Conn.) and junior Rachel Pedro (Weymouth, Mass.) each earned two points, as the Saint Anselm College women's tennis team split a pair of matches this past weekend against Pace University and Adelphi University at the Saint Anselm Outdoor Tennis Courts. The Hawks edged Pace, 5-4, Saturday before dropping an 8-1 decision to Adelphi on Sunday.
The Hawks are now 3-2 on the season and in the Northeast-10. The Setters drop to 0-8, 0-8 NE-10, while the Panthers improve 11-3, 6-0 NE-10.
Against Pace, Brahm was victorious in her No. 2 singles match against Liz Plakhotnaya when Plakhotnaya was forced to retire due to injury with the first set tied, 5-5.
Pedro defeated Gina Pittore in No. 4 singles, 4-6, 6-3, 6-3.
Junior Alexandra Lawrence (N. Scituate, R.I.) and sophomore Katherine Morrissey (Sturbridge, Mass.) took care of Simona Mrazova and Plakhotnaya, 8-2, in No. 1 doubles action.
Brahm and freshman April Regan (Berlin, Conn.) downed Alena Al-Bochi Mazie and Pittore in No. 2 doubles, 8-6.
Sophomore Christine Woods (Wilmington, Mass.) and freshman Kate Martin (Hudson, N.H.) earned an 8-6 victory in No. 3 doubles against Danielle Gore and Carla Gross.
Pedro was the lone singles winner against Adelphi, defeating Gaby Adia, 0-6, 7-6, 1-0 (10-7) in No. 4 doubles action.
The Hawks return to action Wednesday, March 28 at 3:30 p.m. when they play host to Southern New Hampshire University.
