Game Recap: Men's Ice Hockey |

Agliato Scores Late Game-Tying Goal; Hawks Tie Buffalo State

MANCHESTER, N.H. - Forward Joey Agliato (Hauppauge, N.Y.) scored the game-tying goal with 1:05 remaining in regulation time to force an overtime period but the Saint Anselm College men's ice hockey team played to a 1-1 tie Friday night against the Bengals of Buffalo State College at Thomas F. Sullivan Arena.  With the tie, the Hawks overall record stands at 5-3-2 (2-3-1 ECAC) while the Bengals draw their second tie of the season (6-5-2, 4-3-1 SUNYAC).

With Hawks goaltender Nick Dries (Commerce Township, Mich.) relegated to the bench in favor of the extra attacker, Agliato's fourth goal of the season tied the score at one apiece with 1:05 remaining in regulation time.  Falling to the ice, forward Liam McKillop (New York, N.Y.) fed the puck back to the right point where it was gathered by defenseman Alex Pascal (Blue Bell, Pa.).  A powerful blast on net was kicked aside by Buffalo State goaltender Kevin Carr with the rebound spilling out to the left wing corner.  Skating with the puck, Agliato deked Carr with a nifty move, sliding the goaltender out of position, and was able to create just enough leverage to beat the fallen netminder for the game-tying strike.

For the Bengals of Buffalo State, forward Trevor McKinney scored his team-leading 10th goal of the season at 3:59 of the second period off of assists from defenseman Andrew Orange and forward Justin Knee.  A nifty outlet pass by the Bengals from their own defensive zone connected with McKinney, who worked around a Saint Anselm defender and tucked the puck between Hawks goaltender Nick Dries' goal pads for the first strike of the game for either team.

Dries (2-3-2), appearing in his team-leading seventh game of the season in net for the Hawks, collected his second tie of the season while stopping 33-of-34 shots on goal.  Carr (4-5-2) turned aside 31-of-32 shots on net in the game for Buffalo State.

Saint Anselm was 0-for-3 on the power play.  Buffalo State was 0-for-2 with the man advantage.
