SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Sophomore Katherine Morrissey (Sturbridge, Mass.) and freshman Nicole Wilcox each won two matches as the Saint Anselm College women's tennis team recorded a 5-4 victory against Le Moyne College on Sunday morning at Drumlins Country Club as it completed the weekend sweep after earning a 6-3 win at the College of Saint Rose on Saturday.
The Hawks improve to 2-0 on the season and in Northeast-10 play, while the Dolphins fall to 0-2, 0-2.
Morrissey defeated Jessica Geary, 6-2, 6-1, in the No. 3 singles spot, while Wilcox outlasted Kristine Kenny, 4-6, 6-0, 6-2 in No. 5 singles play. Morrissey and Wilcox teamed up in the No. 2 doubles spot to vanquish Rebecca Black and Elizabeth Rhode, 8-5.
Sophomore Alexandra Lawrence (North Scituate, R.I.) earned her first No. 1 singles win of the season, knocking off Caroline Tisdell, 6-2, 6-4.
Senior Amanda Brahm (Marlborough, Conn.) went to 2-0 on the year in the No. 2 singles spot, downing Black, 6-2, 6-1.
The Hawks do not return to action until Tuesday, March 13 at 3:30 p.m. when they play host to Merrimack College.
