Field Hockey Blanked on the Road by AIC, 2-0

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Junior goalkeeper Megan Sullivan (Braintree, Mass.) made nine saves, but the Saint Anselm College field hockey team was felled, 2-0, by American International College on Saturday afternoon.

The Hawks drop to 0-4, with three of their four losses being decided by a total of four goals. The Yellow Jackets even their record at 2-2.

AIC went ahead, 1-0, just 1:38 into the contest when Mackenzie Kewley found the back of the net. Kewley scored again 17:25 in and the Yellow Jackets led, 2-0.

Senior Stephanie Chaisson (Methuen, Mass.) and junior Kristina Katsikis (Hanover, Mass.) combined for five of the Hawks' seven shots on goal, but AIC goalkeeper Kim Steiner made six saves – with team also getting credited with a save – to keep Saint Anselm off the board.

AIC outshot Saint Anselm, 26-13, including 12-4 in the opening half.

The Hawks return to action Wednesday, Sept. 14 at 4 p.m. when they play host to Assumption College at Grappone Stadium.
