MANCHESTER, N.H. – Junior Liam Concannon (Boston, Mass.), and sophomores Michael Hanna (Southborough, Mass.) and William Condon (Mansfield, Mass.) each earned two points as the Saint Anselm College men's tennis team defeated Franklin Pierce University, 6-3, Friday afternoon at the Saint Anselm Outdoor Tennis Courts.
With the victory, the Hawks improve to 2-7 on the season and in Northeast-10 play, while the Ravens drop to 1-7 overall and in the conference.
Concannon downed Mikie Connor, 6-1, 6-3 in No. 5 singles play, while Hanna – his doubles partner – defeated Dan McDonough, 6-1, 6-0 in No. 4 singles action. The duo then combined to vanquish Connor and Mike Selling, 8-1 in No. 3 doubles.
Condon grabbed a 7-5, 6-1 win in No. 3 singles against Sam Aubin before teaming with classmate Joe Zucchi (Methuen, Mass.) to drop Ben Brewer and Aubin, 8-5, in No. 1 doubles.
Freshman Kevin Greene (Londonderry, N.H.) continued his solid play, earning a 6-1, 6-0 victory against Selling in No. 6 singles.
The Hawks return to action Tuesday, April 12 (3:30 p.m.) when they travel to take on Assumption College.
