ORANGEBURG, N.Y. – The Saint Anselm College softball team suffered a pair of losses at Dominican (N.Y.) College on Sunday afternoon, dropping a 9-1 decision in five innings before falling, 4-0 in the second game.

The Hawks saw their three-game win streak snapped and fell to 8-7, while the Chargers improve to 12-8.

After senior Jackie Giannino (Beverly, Mass.) belted her third home run of the weekend to stake the Hawks to a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth of game one, Dominican struck back with two in the bottom half of the inning to grab a 2-1 lead. The Chargers then exploded for seven runs in the bottom of the fifth to earn the 9-1 victory.

A day after picking up a complete-game victory against Felician (N.J.) College, sophomore Shannon Dalton (Concord, Mass.) went four innings, giving up six runs – five earned – on six hits. Freshman Gina Treglia (Fairfield, Conn.) relieved Dalton and tossed a third of an inning and was touched up for three runs – two earned – on four hits.
