RYE, N.H. – The Saint Anselm women's tennis team suffered a 7-2 defeat against Merrimack College in its spring opener at the Wentworth by the Sea Country Club on Sunday.
The Hawks drop to 0-2 overall and in the Northeast-10, while the Warriors improve to 3-2 overall and in conference play.
Sophomore Alyssa Marciniak (Cumberland, R.I.) and senior Vanessa Centofanti (North Reading, Mass.) won the only doubles match of the day for Saint Anselm, defeating Erin McMahon and Katie Veasey, 8-6.
Senior Erika Sartor (Andover, Mass.) was the lone singles winner for the Hawks as she earned a 6-3, 6-2 victory against Lauren DeGuglielmo.
Saint Anselm returns to action Saturday, March 19 when it plays host to the University of New Haven.
